Well, A-Kon was this past weekend and it was pretty tiring. I'm getting rested up but I'm glad I only have to do that once a year.
Anyway, the first day was pretty meh. I had trouble finding my roommates, my costume was in my way and I was not finding stuff to buy in the Dealer's Room. However, everything turned out alright.
My costume was Bridget from Guilty Gear. I got a couple of pictures and people seemed to like my costume so I guess I did okay in that respect.
My roommates were actually very nice people. The room was paid for, everyone was billed fairly and they were very friendly.
Let me talk about the really good part though.
I went to the Masquerade saturday night, in my costume and wearing a white and green elaborate mask. It was pretty cool. There was a little wait before hand as the room was set up so I watched the LARPing tournament. NERF bullets flew and swords swung and it was pretty cool. Mr. Bubbles, one of the fighters cosplaying as a Big Daddy from Bioshock, stole the show as a crowd favorite.
Anyway, once the Ballroom opened, I headed in. There was some loud but danceable techno music and this guy proposed to his girlfriend as the dance started. It was a really cool thing to witness and she did say yes.
I stood around looking for someone to dance with and as I swiveled my head about I was tapped on the shoulder. Turning amidst the flashing colored lights and my heart pumping in rhythm with the beat, my eyes met this girl.
She was dressed in a beautiful Elegant Gothic Lolita dress, frills and lace abounding, white as snow. She carried a white teddy bear in one arm and wore a golden mask with soft pink feathers adorning the top. She wasn't very tall and had lightly tanned skin, a blonde wig to go with her costume.
I couldn't really hear her over the techno but she leaned in close and I made out what she meant. She liked my costume and wanted to dance.
We made our way to the dance floor and joined hands. I'm not much of a dancer but if sincerity in trying means anything, I did alright. We moved and swayed, arm in arm, hand in hand. I held her close and felt the small curves of her back. She smiled and leaned in further. I could feel her petite body through her clothes. We danced slowly, to the beat, sped up to the faster techno and did all manner of couples dance moves.
We danced for a long time until she suddenly had to leave. I tried to tell her how much fun I'd had over the techno and I couldn't tell if she heard me but she smiled as she left. I walked around for a while, trying to find someone else but I couldn't.
That is the one story I feel will stay with me for years from that A-Kon. A wonderful tale of unknown joy that will bring a smile to my lips when I remember it.
That's everything important that happened. I really like A-Kon. ^_^
